Lord Kay Pendragon, Grand Master of the Knights of Solamnia
Kay Pendragon was born into a
family with a history of Solamnic Knights. But at the time of his
birth, his castle had been sacked and most of his family killed.
Only he and his older sister Katrin managed to escape death by
the hands of a cruel mob. The settled in the township of Solace,
north of the fabled elven lands of Qualinesti. Kay almost
immediately went to work in the town, trying to support him and
his sister, whos health was rapidly fading. Working 18 hour days
cutting and hauling wood, Kay soon developed a physic that
challenged that of famed hero of the Lance, Caramon Majere.
Working long days and coming home late to take care of his
sister, then sleep, if he found the time for it, Kay grew up
without many friends. He learned to take what he was given, and
work hard for what he wanted. At a youth of only 17, then Knight
of the Sword Justinian Silverguard, the current High Justice, was
passing through Solace. Seeing Justinian, Kay saw what his sister
had brought him up telling him about, a Knight of Solamnia. Kay
went to Justinian and began to ask him about the Knighthood and
its ethics.
Satisfied with the answers he was given, he
went back to Katrin to find out about there Solamnic heritege,
she told him the story of his father, grandfather, and even his
great grandfather father. Kay was held in awe of the stories of
their unmatched courage on the battle field, and there gentle
kindness to those not as fortunate as themselves. Kay went to
find Sir Justinian, and ask how to join the knighthood. After he
met all the requirements, he set out to find Lamoracke, a retired
High Justice. He asked to join the knighthood, and Lamoracke,
seeing in him, what his father had, accepted him, and gave him a
quest to retrieve the White Potion of Mishakal, a healing potion.
Kay did so with very little trouble, returning from the ruins of
the once beautiful city Xak Tsaroth, carring the potion with
pride.
Thus he became a squire, once again seeking
out Lamoracke, he asked to become a knight, Lamoracke, declaring
with worthy, told him of a small village outside of Palanthas,
named Fyzian, and he told him the story of the human who
corrupted the catacombs below. Kay was furious and was getting
ready to set out to kill this evil man. Lamoracke assured him
that the man would be dealt with, and he told Kay that instead he
must slay the evil yellow dragon, that lived in the catacombs.
Kay did such with little trouble. Holding the dragon's heart high
above his head as he rode back into the city of Palanthas.
Justinian, seeing Kay victorious summoned the High Clerist of the
Knights, Regere Solamnus. Together then Knighted Kay a knight of
the Crown. He wore that title with pride and dignity, until the
time came when Kay thought he was ready for more responsibility.
He asked the High Justice, Lord Justinian, for a quest to become
a knight of the sword.
Justinian also thinking that Kay was ready,
told him about a dragon army camp, not far from the high
clerist's tower. Justinian also told him that they were going to
attack, and that the tower was under maned, Kay was told to stop the force, by
killing the leader and thus stopping the attack. Kay took a small task force of
his friends, numbering 5, himself included. And slew everyone in the camp. Kay
quickly found Lord Justinian, and was knighted, for a second time, this time to
become a Knight of the Sword. The only current Knight of the Sword at that.
