Lord Noryl d'Vaincre, High Clerist
Noryl was born in the port city of Kalaman. Unlike most dwarves his parents did not live in Thorbardin but decided to live in Kalaman after The War of the Lance. When he was 80 years old (approximately 17 in human terms) he decided it was time to adventure into the world. He was neutral in all affairs, going wherever a fine band of adventurers was heading. One day he would explore the forests of Silvanesti and the next day be willing to explore a Solamnic outpost. Whatever earned him the most money to satisfy his love for dwarven spirits and to buy fancy equipment to travel with.
One day he came across an knight known as Regere. Noryl did not care much for the Knights of Solamnia. He thought they were a bunch of arrogant, rich humans who thought themselves the chosen of Paladine, and not allowing any other races to join with them. Noryl being a strong minded person told Regere just what he thought of the knights. Regere, a wise and noble man, chose to ignore the way this youth spoke to him and told him that the knights allowed any race to join with them and that any race can serve Paladine, the God of Good. Noryl was impressed with this human and asked him how to join. Noryl sought out a knight willing to take on a young, hot tempered dwarf. This knight was Traddor, a Knight of the Crown at the time. His quest to Noryl was to kill the holder of a heavy 2 handed sword found under the City of Balifor in a war camp of Takhisis. Noryl and a cleric he met in this town did venture under the city and retrieve the sword in a hard fought battle. Noryl then went before Justinian to receive a quest to gain admitance into the Solamnic Knighthood. Justinian told Noryl to seek out an evil man called Kern and to defeat him in single combat, and to retrieve the holy symbol stolen from Lord Caligoth.
Noryl travelled to a Dragonarmy encampment, slid past the guards and entered the chamber of Kern and gave him the solamnic salute as the measure taught. Kern had no honor and had his evil cohart Urtes attacl Noryl from behind while Noryl was fighting Kern. Noryl played on Kern's arrogance and lured him into single combat. The battle was swift and Noryl stood over Kern's cold dead body and retreived the holy symbol and took it to Lord Justinian. Noryl was then knighted a Crown knight a few days later. He then vowed to always serve Paladine, and the people of Krynn.
After serving as a Knight of the Crown for some time, Noryl was offered a chance to become a Knight of the Sword by Sir Agravain. The quest was to take 5 people with him and invade a keep of the Dark Knights of Takhisis and to slay the evil nightlord. This quest was very tough and Noryl's group was almost defeated but they did prevail and slay that great evil. Unfortunately Mordack, a future Knight of the Crown, did die inside the keep of the dark knights. Thankfully a cleric was found and Mordack was revived. Some time after this quest, the position for High Warrior, Master of the Order of the Crown, was available. Sir Noryl was selected as the next High Warrior and with Lord Justinian, helped guide the knights to more greatness.
After many years, Noryl grew too old to continue in active duty as a knight and retired. His story is uncertain from here. It is known that when he died the gods granted him immortality and he was often seen travelling the lands. He even rejoined the Knighthood and became the next High Clerist, but this person was a human. No one knows how this happened, even Noryl himself, but it is known that he proved his identify in a secret council meeting with high ranking knights. For some 30 years Noryl served as High Clerist before he decided it was time to step aside. To this day he is often seen paying a visit to his old companion, Lord Justinian Silverguard, and occasionally presents a squire to the council.
