Sir Stonge Dragonsbane, Knight of the Crown
Growing up in the shadow of his legendary ancestor Huma, young Stonge Dragonsbane grew up a stern, sometimes strict martinet with little tolerance for error in himself or those around him. As such, he was a solitary youngster, finding solace in the stories and tales surrounding the great Huma Dragonsbane rather than in the games and revelry most children his age took part in. Grim with the weight of his namesake, Stonge grew deep lines into his forehead even as early as his teens, and his deep voice gave him the air of maturity well beyond his years. Where others flirted and romped, Stonge wandered in search of adventure and fulfillment, seeking to live up to his name, and he left home at age 17, never having known his family, who vanished mysteriously when he was still a small child.
Eventually, his wanderings and search for the whereabouts of his family led him to strange cities far away from the safe confines of Palanthas. He visited the famed homes of the Heros of the Lance in Solace and travelled to visit the guilds of Tarsis and Kalaman. Somewhere in those wayward days, Stonge learned the arts of fighting by sword and by axe...by using his shield as a tool to smash opponents to the ground and by using both arms to parry an opponent's death blow...and, during this time, Stonge learned the old martial art of Hwarangdo. Here, he found some of the inner peace he had been searching for all his life. With Hwarangdo, Stonge gained the guidance that a family should have provided, and the ideals of combat with honor embedded in that art convinced Stonge that that was the path of enlightenment for him. Then, he resolved to completely follow in Huma's footsteps and become a Knight of Solamnia. First, though, he had to find a Solamnic Knight who would accept him as a squire. Yet, ironically, it was in the scum-infested cities of Balifor and Flotsam that he happened upon one of the famed knights of the era, Lord Justinian Silverguard, at that time the leader of the Knights of Solamnia.
After thorough interviews and a check into his past, Stonge Dragonsbane became a Squire. Now, eyes watched him carefully, well aware of the burden of his name; this, though, was of little concern to Stonge, who by now was used to all the inner comparisons and attempts to become another Huma. Stonge was his own person and this fearlessness and sense of identity helped him fight alone through the dark, sinister creatures of Crytic Forest. Avoiding death traps and fighting his way through ambushes, Stonge emerged from the forest a Knight of the Crown, and he completed his knighting ceremony in Palanthas with Lord Justinian, Sir Noryl, and Sir Ulik present, with a neutral observer and friend, Kilith Cleanshaven, in attendance as well.
Since this time, Sir Stonge Dragonsbane, Hwarangdo Knight of the Crown, has found the Order to be the most trying as well as most rewarding experience of his life. Walking past the taunts of the jealous and angry, Sir Stonge treads a narrow path in keeping to the ideals of the Knights of Solamnia. For young worshippers of Paladine, he has kept a priority in helping their ascension into full heal clerics, and Sir Stonge takes the forefront in battle with a group against a common foe, often staying and reaching the point of death to make sure all others are safe. It is this unbreakable courage in the face of unfavorable odds which he shares with the old Huma; and it is this courage which the citizens of Krynn trust the Order with holding dear.
